Sinopsis Buku
This book attempts to present a synthesis of thought between two prominent Muslim scholars: Al-Farabi from the classical era and Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas from the contemporary period. This study examines the relevance of Al-Farabi's concept of the ideal state (Al-Madinah Al-Fadhilah) in the modern context. The research argues that an ideal state requires a substantive foundation of justice. The procedural concept of justice from Western thinkers like John Rawls is considered insufficient. As an alternative, this book proposes Al-Attas' ontological and spiritual concept of justice, defined as "placing everything in its proper place" in relation to God, oneself, and others. Through a comparative-analytical approach, this book concludes that Al-Attas' concept of justice serves as an important prerequisite for realizing Al-Farabi's ideal state. With straightforward language and systematic argumentation, this work hopes to contribute to the discourse in Islamic political philosophy, particularly in efforts to create a more just and civilized social order.
